“Whether in pretense or in truth…”
I am currently studying the book of Philippians and I found the Word of God rather remarkable (as always!).
By the power of the Holy Spirit, St. Paul writes: “Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. The former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment. What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice.” (Phil. 1:15-18)
What a beautiful observation from Paul as he recognizes the great power of the Good News. Even when we try to stand in the way, the simple proclamation of the true Gospel has the strength to break hearts of stone, to proclaim victory to the captives — to remind us that God is faithful in His promises to us and His salvation is a true gift!
Alleluia! God is Good… All the Time!
Peace, hope, and love in all ways and always,
